I'm bored and I feel that there are some people that could use this information.

Some info here on what an IP address is, if you're not 100% sure.

So IP loggers and links are pretty common, and no doubt you've either seen one of heard of one being spammed in the chat through Discord or skype.

Here are some reasons people may want to IP log you.
    1. To hit you offline/[D]DoS you. Meaning the person will send lots of information to your router causing it to crash for a short period of time.
    2. To threaten you with a DDoS attack.
    3. For fun.
Of course there is actually some legitimate reasons someone might want to have your IP though, such as,
    1. To enable you access to something private.
    2. To verify yourself.
Just note that almost every single website logs your IP address for legal reasons. Including Minetime.

So moving on, here is how you can tell an IP logger link from a real link.

Firstly, here are some dead giveaways that a link someone sent you is either a phishing website or a IP logger.
    1. If you have never spoken to them before, and the first message they send is a link.
    2. If the link is trying to resemble a popular site like Paypal or youtube. (youtuu.be, paypalhomepa.ge, ppaypal, facebo.ok, etc)
    3. If someone you strongly dislike is desperately trying to get you to visit "their website" or Minecraft server.
    4. Someone with no profile picture sends you a random link (often a dead giveaway).
Here are some example domain names I took from popular IP logging sites.

If you're still unsure about a sketchy looking link, you can always use GetLinkInfo.com too.
I actually had an entire thread posted by a friend of mine on how to use this site, but the forum that was posted on is having a cleanup of all its sectors, so it's unreachable right now, so I'll try explain it.

    http://getlinkinfo.com
Once you're on the page, you're going to copy your *questionable* link into the text field. For this example, I will use an IP logging link which will log the user, then redirect them to Minetime.com

As you can see, where it says "effective URL" is the place the IP logger will redirect you to. Of course this is not 110% accurate all the time, and will not specifically tell you if the link is an IP logger or not. There is also url2it.com's resolver which is a little more accurate if you know what you're doing and looking for.

Aside from that information, if you're still really curious as to what that suspicious looking link is that a randy sent you, just load up Opera's VPN and private browser and go check it out. As long as you don't download anything you'll be fine. Check out my other thread here on how to do that --> https://www.minetime.com/threads/36561

Let me know if I missed anything or if you have any questions, or if there's anything I should add. This is mainly directed towards the younger and more vulnerable players here.

    kthxbye

If you're concerned, I think you're able to call up your ISP and request it to be changed?
